Mount Greylock’s boys’ varsity wrestling team heads into its first season with head coach Carvalho, who has been the assistant coach for the last twelve years. After a tough 74-6 loss against Taconic last week, the team will return on December 27 at the Berkshire Holiday Tournament and again on January 5, when they will travel to South Hadley. Coach Carvalho explains that last year “the team was young” and have now started learning the ropes. Minus seniors like Jude Rorke, Coach Carvalho is excited that the same students came back for another season with the addition of multiple seventh graders.

Due to the fact that many athletes have returned, Coach Carvalho believes that they can really become excellent: “the same [students] came back, they are more mature… we could really improve.” Even though the position of captain is still undecided, spectators should watch out for sophomore Dominic Green, senior Nick Belouin, eighth-grader Quinn Whaley, and Liam Feely, who last year was one round away from winning the Junior State Championship.
