Volleyball Storms to Western Mass Semi-Finals
The Mt. Greylock Girls Volleyball team had a phenomenal season this year, and they were rewarded with the No. 3 seed for Western Mass playoffs. Their first playoff match took place on Monday, November 10th versus No. 6 seed Turners Falls at home. Greylock asserted their supremacy early on as they took the first set by 13 points. Junior Carly Munzer, a service specialist, dominated the first set with three straight aces to give her team a seven-point lead. From there on out, Greylock cruised through the next two sets finishing the night with a 3-0 sweep. Munzer finished the night with four aces, while sophomore Marley Buffis and junior Serena Chow added five and three aces, respectively. With other weapons on the team, such as Hope Willis, co-captain and the team’s only senior, and Jenna Benzinger, a junior, the Greylock Volleyball team will travel to No. 2 seed Lee on Thursday, November 12. Having lost to them twice in the regular season, Greylock will look to find something special on Thursday night to keep their season alive.
