Greylock Wrestling Mounting a Solid Season

Wrestling

Boasting one of the deepest rosters in Western Massachusetts, the Mt. Greylock wrestling team has started the season in strong form. With wrestlers from McCann, Drury, Hoosac Valley, and Mt. Greylock, the co-op team has over thirty players on the roster, ranging from beginners to some of the top wrestlers in the county. Key players include seniors Cayman Mead and Hunter Abriel, and junior Dillon Whitley, among others. Led by former Western Massachusetts champion Devin Pelletier, the Mounties are currently sitting on a 10-4 record heading into the break.

Many of Mt. Greylock’s victories have come from out-of-state meets with teams from New York and Vermont. Among these wins are dominant displays over Berlin and Cairo-Durham (NY) and Fair Haven and Essex (VT) at a tournament in Cohoes, New York. According to senior Cayman Mead, “Our season has started out pretty well.” The Mounties’ berkshire county record is 0-1 with a loss to Taconic, but head coach Ray Miro’s team will be looking for key wins against the likes of Monument Mountain and Mount Everett in order to win the Berkshire title.
