MSBA Approves Building Plan
On Wednesday, January 27, the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) approved the proposed building project for Mt. Greylock Regional High School. With a unanimous vote, the MSBA board authorized a $32,491,074 grant. Earlier in January, the Mt. Greylock School Committee accepted a $64.8 million budget for a new school building, pending approval of the MSBA, Williamstown, and Lanesborough. “It feels like there been a lot of swift turn around, but that’s part of the MSBA’s calendar.” said Principal MacDonald, “What we can’t forget is that, since 2006, we’ve been submitting statements of intent just to get into the MSBA pipeline.”
The Lanesborough Finance Committee passed a contested vote recommending that the people of Lanesborough approve the Mt. Greylock building project, and the Lanesborough Board of Selectmen decided to hold the budget vote on March 15th. Additionally, there will be a town meeting in Lanesborough on February 23rd to discuss the building project. The Williamstown Board of Selectmen set the date for the vote of budget approval for March 1st.
