Boys’ Basketball Season Ends
On March 11,the Mt. Greylock boys basketball team finished with a winning 18-6 record. Captains Pat Storie and Cam Hadley, both seniors, and junior Sean McCormack led the team to becoming Western Mass finalists
Storie said, “The team gets along better than any team I have ever been a part of. The chemistry that we have is unbreakable and I think it shows on the court with the way we play together.”
The Greylock boys held the 5th seed in the Western Mass tournament. On February 27th, the team hosted Narragansett in the first round of the Western Mass tournament and won 79-51, a solid 28 point win. On Thursday, March 2nd, they overcame Southwick in an intense game that brought the boys basketball team to the Curry Hicks Cage for the Western Mass semi-finals. The boys faced Wahconah in the first round of the Cage on Wednesday, March 8th. The boys pulled out a win against Wahconah with a score of 59-52. Their next western mass game, on Saturday March 11, was against Palmer. After an incredibly close game, the Mt. Greylock boys were unable to come home with the win they had hoped for. Palmer took the lead and won the game with a score of 49-42. All the western mass games were well attended and the student fan section helped keep the team pumped and motivated during the game.
Head Coach Thistle mentioned “I am extremely proud of the season we had, it’s the first trophy for boys basketball since 1969. We’ll be back next year.”
