Girls’ Basketball Prepares for New Season
Led by captains Madison Ross and Ciera Schwarzer, the girls’ basketball team is eager to commence the 2019-2020 season. Having missed Western Mass by a mere one game last year, the team is especially motivated and encouraged by their assortment of new players. Emma Stevens, a junior to watch, expressed the team’s goal to exhibit a cohesive team dynamic, and of course post a winning record. With the loss of three seniors, including their point guard Maddie Albert, captain Ciera Schwarzer reports, “we have room to grow and are a young team,” yet remains confident in their abilities and key players such as Delany Babcock and Madison Ross, among others. The season will kick-off with a scrimmage on Tuesday December 10 against Drury at McCann, followed by their first official game away on Thursday against Taconic. In addition to Drury and Taconic, the team is hungry to confront competition such as Mount Everett and Hoosac. Unfortunately for fans, the first home game is not until the winter break on December 31 against Pittsfield. However, the new year will bring an abundance of opportunities for fans to support the flourishing squad.
