Boys Nordic Skiing Season Preview
It’s that time of year again. The magical time of snow, hot cocoa, and winter holidays. But for the Mt. Greylock Boys’ cross country ski team now is when the real work begins. The team has won the past seven MIAA State Championships and hopes to continue their winning streak. The team is looking forward to the chance to race. Their first opportunity to win a race is December 30 at Prospect Mountain. Freshman Gabe Gerry, a varsity prospect, is confident about the team and says, “we really haven’t fallen short [in the past], we won states.” Gerry also favors the team to win states, and confidently asserts that their rivalries are “none”. The team’s coaches, which have always been one of the keys to success for the team, are Hilary Greene, Hiram Greene, and Mark Santella. The team recently got a chance to practice on snow by attending an early morning practice at Jiminy Peak and is looking forward to more practices there. At this point, the team will continue to train hard and can only hope that the weather forecast will be full of snow.
