Baseball Early Season Update
The Mount Greylock Baseball Team has been preparing for a strong year this preseason, led by three senior veterans who are looking to go far. Last season, the Mounties’ went 21-4 in a spring highlighted by an undefeated run in the conference and a sterling home record. Graduating nine seniors, all of whom started for Greylock, head coach Steve Messina headed into this year looking for younger players to step up and assume vacant roles.
All three captains this year, Brodie Altiere, Adam Hall, and Josh Jezouit, are senior pitchers who play their shifts out in the field and are bringing the experience factor from last year’s impressive run. In their first game of the season, the Mounties started off shaky after trailing by 7 runs to Hoosac Valley but were able to rally back in the later innings to pull off a 10-9 victory. Since then, the baseball team has beaten Mt. Everett, St. Joe and Lenox and currently sit at 4-2 and 3-0 in conference. Greylock’s next matchup is on Friday, April 29 when they host Lee.
