On Friday, October 10, 2025, the Mount Greylock volleyball team spiked their way to a victory over their biggest rival, the Wahconah Warriors. Greylock dominated, winning in three sets and solidifying themselves as one of the top teams in the county and a real threat to win Western Mass. They have a strong core of young players, an excellent coaching staff, and are made a good run in the playoffs this year.
Greylock had to overcome some difficulties early in their season, but were able to turn it around by October. The team showed remarkable resilience overcoming hard losses like Wahconah and Taconic, both games going to the fifth set. However, led by senior and team captain Kiera Kristensen, they won the last four games of the regular season and ended with a record of 9-5.
Team manager Grant Morin said, “We’ve had some challenging losses that we’ve been able to bounce back from and ended up finishing the season really strong.”
During the beginning of the playoffs, Greylock easily dispatched the Green Wave in three sets with a dominating performance.
Head Coach Greg Geyer said, “This team is dedicated, hardworking, incredibly coachable, and just growing every day. Our season has been getting better every week, we’ve beaten the top teams in the county so we are among the top teams… and we are looking toward the playoffs.”
The team’s dedication brought them very close to winning the Western Massachusetts volleyball championship, and earned them an impressive second place title. Junior Cecilia Keogh says, “I think the team has bonded really well and it’s shown as we’ve gotten better playing [throughout] this season.”
The team continues to improve, and has a bright future ahead of them.
