The Class of 2028’s second edition of the Olympic Games took place on March 13th and was hosted by the sophomore class officers. It brought competition, medals, and fun to Mount Greylock.
The Olympic Games are a competition where teams of four compete together and with selected duos to earn points across a variety of activities that challenge different kinds of strategic and athletic abilities. The points are then totalled and first, second, and third place winners are announced.
Open to grades nine through twelve, around thirty people attended.
Sophomore Walter Love stated that he “had a lot of fun the whole time.” According to sophomore class president Morris Israel, they “received minimal backlash.”
During last year’s Class of 2028 Olympic Games, there was a lot of backlash afterwards about how some of the events were run. This time, the activities were more organized and better run. This led everyone to have more fun.
When asked what makes the Games important, Israel said, “It is part of what is an essential effort to give Mount Greylock students fun and accessible activities to participate in throughout the year.” Additionally, the class raised around $300 for their upcoming senior year.
The winning team consisted of sophomores Walter Love, Cole Creighton, Henry Wall, and Keaton Reppetto. Silver went to freshmen Asher Barrale, Zin Doucette, Seamus Claffey, and Fisher Crowe. The team of juniors Timothy Karampatsos, Emery Rotter, Patrick Holland, and Nathan Gill came in third place. In addition, there was even a different award that was given out: the “Fun Award.” This honor was received by Thomas Warren, Gabby Ghione, Laurel Rotter, and Paige Tudor.
“The whole atmosphere was really great,” said Love, “[and people] had fun even if they didn’t win.”
