SoccerAfter starting the current campaign with commanding victories over Hoosac Valley and Lee, the Mount Greylock girls’ soccer team is now trying to rebound after a difficult stretch that saw defeats to powerhouses West Springfield and Pittsfield. Losses to Monument Mountain and Wahconah leave Mount Greylock with a 4-4-1 record. However, a recent 3-3 draw to rivals Hoosac Valley and another dominant display at Drury leave  manager Tom Ostheimer’s side with much needed confidence heading into the second half of the season, with tough matches coming up against Westfield and Mahar.

Leading the squad in scoring are midfielder Melissa Swann (‘16) and forward Caroline Flynn (‘18) with 10 and 6 goals, respectively. According to Swann, a captain, the team “started the season a little slow, but has made some adjustments based on results and is now stronger going into the second half of the season”. Standing at a .500 record right now, the Mount Greylock girls’ team is optimistic about their Western Mass tournament prospects.
