On October 15, in a battle of Berkshire County and Western Massachusetts heavy-weights, the Mt. Greylock boys’ cross country team lost in heartbreaking fashion at Lenox by a score of 27-29. The Mounties now sit at 12-2 overall with both losses coming at the hands of Lenox. Greylock’s top finisher was junior Tommy Kirby in a time of 16:43, just 13 seconds behind the first Lenox finisher, Tucker McNinch. Greylock’s next  three finishers were seniors Carter Stripp, Sam Kobrin, and Will Nolan. However, their times were not enough to eclipse Lenox’s next three of Ben Herrick, Philippe Mortelliti, and Sam Darbey.

At Greylock’s next race at Taconic, the Mounties showcased their dominance and beat all three opponents with ease. After Taconic, Coach Scott Burdick and the rest of the Mounties will begin to prep for the postseason. “I have a lot of faith in our team to do really well at the Western Massachusetts and state meets. Will Nolan was phenomenal last Wednesday, one more spot up and we win the meet and we always turn it on at the end of the season,” noted senior captain Carter Stripp. Greylock looks to continue its postseason dominance and garner yet another Western Massachusetts title.
