At 11:00 am on Wednesday January 27, students filled the Mt. Greylock meeting room for the latest installment of Greylock Plays. Senior Nicole Jones, head of Greylock Plays, said “This was kinda the first Greylock Plays in school [this year].” She then went on to express her worries due to low student attendance at similar events, such as an earlier performance to support the school’s production of Macbeth. This time, however, students filled all the seats and stood in the back of the meeting room to watch their friends and faculty perform. “I didn’t expect that many people to show up.” admitted Jones.

The first act of the event was Jaedin King, a junior, who sang “Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys. Juniors Jenna Benzinger, a singer, and Dagny Albano, who played piano, then performed “Joey is a Punk Rocker” by Joe Iconis. Singer Lina Marcinczyk (‘17) and pianist Manas Jain (‘17) played  “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley. The event ended with history teacher, singer, and guitarist Patrick Blackman performing “1952 Vincent Black Lightning” by Richard Thompson and an untitled song dedicated to the seniors of Mt. Greylock. WilliNet, Williamstown’s local news website, filmed the performance.

Jones is already planning the future of Greylock Plays,“I am hoping to do one for the musical in early March, but that’s still up in the air… I’ve had people walk up to me asking if they can perform in the next Greylock Plays and that’s really cool.”
